ENROLL PEOPLE IN EPIC MISSIONS
Luther Burbank Center for the Arts (LBC) — a well-regarded Bay Area performing arts center
Many of the LBC’s members and donors weren’t aware they were helping fund nonprofit educational arts programs that were transforming local students’ lives. The Center hired me for two years to find and help them tell inspiring stories of students whose lives have changed.
The Center decided to mail quarterly CEO “ask-less” thank you letters to members and donors highlighting one program at a time. Initially the letter was sent on letterhead. I suggested we replace it with an exciting full-color mailer and sketched a rough layout the LBC’s designer fleshed out.
I also advised the Center to get clearances on all of the stories and photos we collected so they can reuse them in variety of media to bring their educational programs to life for the public.
The LBC’s staff is successfully using its library of inspiring stories in major donor asks, fundraising appeals, foundation grant bids, performance programs, annual reports and more.

We’re thrilled with the library of powerful stories Barbara has helped us develop. Having approved stories and photos our staff can use to bring our nonprofit programs to life for donors, prospects and the community is so beneficial.”Kyle Clausen
